Specialist deep cleaning: In most decontaminations a bespoke deep cleaning process is essential to expose the contaminant.

Aerosol fumigation: Castium use ULV (ultra-low-volume) aerosol delivery systems, capable of producing droplets of less than 50 microns to disburse a variety of specialist chemicals.

Hydrogen peroxide vapour: In order to successfully disinfect inside equipment, ductwork and hard to reach areas H2O2 vapour (VHP) provides a 6 log Geobacillus kill in challenging locations.

Ethylene oxide (EtO): The ultimate form of decontamination, EtO sterilisation is a chemical process consisting of four primary variables: gas concentration, humidity, temperature and time. EtO is an alkylating agent that disrupts the DNA of all microorganisms, including pinworm related environmental contaminations.

Dry steam surface treatment: This system works by applying a high pressure dose of steam to kill the pathogen. To ensure no part of the pathogen remains the steam unit extracts the waste/moisture simultaneously with an internal high power vacuum system.

Autoclave sterilisation: Our system has an independent steam generator and steam jacket for drying product. The system is able to run customised cycles and can operate at temperatures between 121oC and 134oC.

Pinworm Threats – pinworm infection may interfere with research goals in a number of ways. Pinworm infection has been shown to increase the host humoral immune response to nonparasitic antigenic stimuli and accelerate the development of the hepatic monooxygenase system. In athymic mice, pinworm infection may instigate the development of a lymphoproliferative disorder that eventually leads to lymphoma.

Castium understand that all facilities are different and with this in mind went about creating a service that provides a bespoke solution. We believe that approximately 99% of the pinworm environmental contaminant is removed during the advanced deep cleaning phase of a Castium decontamination but understand that just 1% is enough to reinfect a full colony.

To complete the decontamination process Castium offer various other services, including a dry aerosol disinfection using a broad spectrum chemical agent active against Oocysts, a traditional fogging process using a specially modified compressed air system that delivers a consistent 4 to 10 micron fog and a surface steam vapour treatment.
